Welcome to 3 Josh Park, the home of your Port City Slayers. The stadium was originally built in 1996 as a mammoth tribute to Slayers' owner Josh Hammond. At that time, the contractors placed three enormous images of Hammond on the outside of the stadium. Josh was flattered, but a little embarassed by all of the attention. His Slayers were extremely competitive, and expansion became necessary as the fan base grew. Instead of adding on to the tired, old building from 1996, Josh decided to start anew. In 2001, the new 3 Josh Park was built across the street from the old one. The new model is more modern and holds more patrons. And there are no longer any ostentatious displays of narcissicism.
The Slayers have been crowd-pleasers from their inception, and boast the best home record in the league. Furthermore, their ticket prices still rank among the lowest at $18.50 for seats on the 50 yard line. Low ticket prices and constant winning have made season tickets a hot commodity in Port City. The waiting lists are outrageous. As a favor to the fans, Hammond has struck a "no blackout" deal with the local cable company so that the unfortunate fans who can't get into the gate can still watch the game from their home or favorite sport's bar.
When football is not in season, 3 Josh Park plays host to some of the biggest events in the country. Josh Hammond recently asked personal friend David Gilmour if Pink Floyd might consider doing a show in Port City. Since Gilmour owed Hammond a favor (apparently Josh bailed him out of jail after he trashed a hotel room), he happily complied. The little known "Wish I Had Hair" tour kicked off right in Port City.
Hammond feels it is his moral obligation to provide culture to the residents of Port City, so any redneck activities like country music concerts, monster truck rallies, and baseball are strictly prohibited in 3 Josh Park.
