I. League Setup
- The SCUFFLE consists of 16 teams, which are divided into two
conferences of 8, named the Brew Ha Ha Conference and the Old School
Conference. Each conference is further divided into two divisions
of 4, named the Eastern and Western divisions.
- The regular season consists of 14 games. The top four teams
from each conference (two division winners and two wildcards) advance
to the Big SCUFFLE playoffs, which will determine the league champion.
- The remaining eight teams will be seeded by record, regardless of
conference, and play in the Little SCUFFLE playoffs, which confers
minor glory on the winner.
- Week 15 marks the first week of the playoffs. The four
losing teams in the Little SCUFFLE tournament are dropped into the
World's Worst tournament, with teams advancing by losing, until the
World's Worst team is "crowned." The teams in the Big SCUFFLE
playoffs are immune from the threat of being crowned World's Worst.
- Each team will play their division rivals twice, and teams in the
other division within their conference once. They will also play
four out-of-conference games against one division in the other
conference. This alternates every year, so the BHH East will play
the OSC East one year, but the following year will pit the BHH East
against the OSC West. Home field advantage in these games also
alternates. For example, if the BHH East plays the OSC East in
2004 and 2006, then the BHH East teams will play at home in 2004 and
away in 2006.
II. Rosters and Lineups
- Each team must always carry a roster of 13 players. In the
event of a trade that changes this fact, adds or drops must be made
immediately to restore the roster to 13 players.
- There is no injured reserve list. Injured players can ride
the pine or be cut.
- Each team must carry at least
2 QBs, 1 DEF, and one ST.
- Each team can carry no more than
2 DEFs and 2 STs. Additionally, a team can have no more than 2 starting QBs on the roster.
It is acceptable to carry a backup QB on the roster, but if he is named
the starter, and the team is carrying 3 starting QBs, then one must be
dropped immediately.
- Lineups must be submitted online via the myfantasyleague
page. Lineup submissions will be accepted until kickoff on
Sunday. After kickoff, lineup submission is locked, and the owner
has failed to submit a lineup.
- In the even of Thursday games, lineups must be submitted before
the Thursday game starts if the owner wants to use players in that
game. Lineup submission is open until Sunday, but Thursday
players will not be available after the fact. The same holds true
for Saturday games.
- A lineup shall consist of seven players, plus one player
designated as an overtime player in the event of a tie.
- Valid lineup configurations:
- 1 QB, 3 RB, 1 WR, 1 ST, 1 DEF (T-formation)
- 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 ST, 1 DEF (I-formation)
- 1 QB, 1 RB, 3 WR, 1 ST, 1 DEF (Ace formation)
- 1 QB, 0 RB, 4 WR, 1 ST, 1 DEF (Spread formation)
- It's super easy to submit a lineup. Still, it is necessary
to post this thanks to certain owners. Failure to submit a lineup
results in:
- (1st offense) The use of the previous week's lineup.
Note, the previous week's lineup will not be used if a lineup was not
submitted prior to a Thursday game. Instead, any Thursday players
will be removed and only a partial lineup will be used.
- (2nd offense) The commissioner will ask the owner to submit a
lineup for each week, all at once. The owner can then go in later
and change the lineups on a week to week basis. Should the owner
forget, then a lineup has already been set.
- (3rd offense) The commissioner will get super annoyed and
submit the same lineup for all of the remaining weeks with no regard to
bye weeks or injuries. The owner can then make changes on a week
to week basis.
- (4th offense) Really? Four times? At this point the
owner will receive the ignominious Erin Millender Award for owner
futility.
- In the event of web page problems, simply email your opponent and
the commissioner your lineup before the start of the first game.
In the event of total internet failure, just call the commissioner
(number posted on myfantasyleague page) with your lineup. Plan
ahead and submit a lineup early in the week and adjust as necessary
before the games start on Sunday.
III. Waivers and Transactions
- Unlike in the past, when we had transaction limits but they were
never enforced, there are no limits to the number of transactions an
owner can make during the regular season (weeks 1-14).
- The trading deadline is the Thursday after week 9. No
trades can be made after that day.
- Waivers are not allowed
during the playoffs except to replace an injured player (this is to
ensure that teams are not skirting the trade deadline by making a
backdoor trade where one owner drops a player knowing that his/her
buddy is next on the waiver wire).
- The waiver wire order changes each week to give weaker teams the
first shot at free agents, and it is determined by the following
criteria (in this order):
- Overall winning percentage
- Head to head record
- Total points scored
- Conference winning percentage
- Divisional winning percentage
- Reverse order of opponent total points scored
- Waiver requests are submitted via the myfantasyleague site.
Requests can be made after a game kicks off on Sunday through Wednesday
night, when they are automatically processed at 9:00 PM Eastern,
according to that week's waiver wire order. Requests for the next
day can be made after 9:15 PM. The computer will automatically
process waivers on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights,
all at 9:00 PM Eastern.
- Waivers are not processed on
Sunday! Do not email the commish and complain about the waiver
you requested five minutes before kickoff not going through.
- Waivers are processed automatically and the commissioner does not
see which teams requested which players. This design serves the
purpose of maintaining a fair competitive balance, but we are beholden
to the deadlines described above.
IV. Home Field Advantage
- Each team plays 7 home games and 7 away games during the regular
season.
- The home team receives 2 points
for playing at home.
- Home field advantage exists in weeks 15 and 16 of the playoffs,
and is awarded to the better seed.
- All week 17 games are
played on neutral sites, and no home field advantage is afforded to
either team.
V. Owner Conduct
- Owners are expected
to submit a lineup each week.
- Owners are expected
to update their owner
profile pages each season.
- Owners are encouraged
to post to the message board.
- Owners are encouraged to write
articles, record radio broadcasts, or post videos to the SCUFFLE Broadcasting Network.
- Trash talking is encouraged,
but personal attacks should be avoided.
