Big SCUFFLE Most Valuable Player, Kurt Warner, comments on winning Big SCUFFLE IV.

Third Time Is a Charm for the Slayers

The Slayers had grown accustomed to seeing the Nukes at the bottom of the standings in years past, but 2001 proved to be an exceptional year for Subcity.  The Nukes and Slayers battled all season for the division crown, and the Slayers claimed it on a tiebreaker.  These two powerhouse teams split the regular season series, and met up for the third time in Big SCUFFLE IV.  The game did not disappoint.  The quarterbacking was phenomenal for both squads, and the positional players seemed to match up well.

The difference maker in the game was the wide receiver play.  Issac Bruce and Jimmy Smith were not stunning, but their solid 13 points were enough to keep pace with the wide receiving trio from Subcity.  Nukes owner Rick Franssen was let down by his normally productive corps, with only Jerry Rice showing up to play.

Big SCUFFLE IV marked the third year in a row that the Slayers had advanced to the title game. It was the first championship for intrepid owner Josh Hammond.  Said Hammond, "I'm just glad we finally won the big game.  I was beginning to hear murmurings of Buffalo Bills comparisons, and I'm glad we can finally put that to rest."
